WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's golf team stands fourth Sunday after day one of its own invitational hosted at Winchester Country Club.
Playing the par-71, 6367-yard Winchester Country Club, Shenandoah shot a collective 313 on day one of the two-day, 36-hole event to find itself tied for fourth in the 15-team event.
The Tigers have three players in the top two places in the standings and all four of their scoring golfers are in the top eight.
Alex Simmons, with a one-under-70, has a one shot lead over teammates Aaron Persily and Bruce Shober as well as Roanoke's Andrew Butts.
Junior Blake Forst paced Shenandoah with a four-over 75 to find himself in a six-way tie for 10th.
Ryan Parker, playing as an individual, had a 92.
Shenandoah is tied for fourth with Shepherd, six shots back of third place Averett.
The tournament concludes Monday.
