Golf Wraps Up at USA South

BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Shenandoah University golf team concluded a 20-year run for the athletic department in the USA South Conference with a seventh place finish Sunday at the USA South Conference Golf Championships.

Shenandoah rebounded from a 340 in Saturday's second round to shoot a collective 324 on Sunday.

SU had a three day total of 990.

Greensboro, the defending national champions, won the championship by five strokes over fellow national power Methodist.

The Monarchs had Sunday's low total, 292, but could not make up the 19-stroke deficit they faced heading into the final day.

Senior Derek Snarr, who was the last Hornet on the course and thus is the final Shenandoah student-athlete to have competed in the USA South, led SU with a 242 that placed him 26th. He shot 81 Sunday.

Snarr's classmate, Adam Delauter, had the low Sunday round of seven-over-par 78 over the par-71, 7032-yard Stoney Creek GC layout.

Zach Ramey and John Judy rounded out the Shenandoah qualifying scores with a 79 and 86, respectively.

The Hornets begin their inaugural ODAC campaign in September with a 10-round fall season.
