Hoops Releases Schedules

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University will have a total of 27 home basketball games this coming winter in tentative men's and women's basketball schedules released recently.

The SU men will have 14 of those home dates, beginning on November 6 with an exhibition contest against Division II Shippensburg and concluding February 19 in the USA South Conference regular season finale against Methodist.

That February 19 date is one of six that the men and women will play in Shingleton Gymnasium on the same day.

The busiest of those dates, November 28, features a tripleheader. The SU men will be hosting day two of the 2010 South Region Challenge on that Sunday following Thanksgiving, taking on Mary Washington immediately following the N.C. Wesleyan versus Hampden-Sydney game scheduled for 1 p.m.

At 6:00, the Shenandoah women will conclude the day with a non-league game against Hood College.

In addition to the six USA South Conference home games and the South Region Challenge, the men host 2010 NCAA Tournament teams Eastern Mennonite and Virginia Wesleyan on November 15 and December 11, respectively.

Coach Robert Trent Harris, Jr.'s men also will play in the Gettysburg Tournament November 19 and 20 before taking on Division I William & Mary in Williamsburg on December 16. This is the first time in three seasons that the Hornets have a DI school on the schedule.

Michelle Guyant-Holloway's women will play in a single in-season tournament this season when they travel to Swarthmore on November 20 and 21.

Her club will play five home games in the first semester, including a December 1 USA South Conference opener against Christopher Newport and a December 18 game against local rival Eastern Mennonite.

The first conference doubleheader of the season is January 8 against N.C. Wesleyan.
