Two Earn All-District Honors

DELAWARE, Ohio - Shenandoah University had two student-athletes earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III honors in selections announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junior Kevin Kline earned first team honors for the men while senior Alexis Hargbol grabbed a second team accolade on the women's side.

To be eligible for ESPN honors, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve on their teams. Nominees are voted on by CoSIDA members at the district level; the Academic All-America team will be selected by the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee.

As a first team honoree, Kline now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Kline leads the Hornet men with a 17.0 points per game average and has been named USA South Conference Player of the Week on two occasions so far this season.

Last year, he was named second team All-USA South and to the USA South All-Tournament team.

Kline carries a 3.40 GPA as a Business Administration major.

Hargbol is one of the most decorated players to ever play at SU as she has earned All-USA South honors twice in her career and has been named USA South Conference Rookie or Player of the Week nine times in her career.

In December, she became the 15th woman in school history to score at least 1000 career points and she is also the career leader in both free throws made and attempted at SU.

A Doctor of Pharmacy candidate, Hargbol had a 3.5 GPA as an undergrad and sports a perfect 4.0 in the Pharmacy program.

Kline and Hargbol are the third and fourth SU student-athletes to earn Academic All-District honors this academic year. Juniors Daniel Beard and Matt Kingsbury were both named to the first team for football in the fall.

Should Kline be named Academic All-America, he would be the ninth SU student-athlete in the past four years to be so honored.
