Hoops Sweeps USA South Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University swept the USA South Conference basketball Player of the Week honors in selections announced Monday by the conference office.

Junior Kevin Kline was named Player of the Week on the men's side while senior Alexis Hargbol was tabbed for the second time in three weeks as the women's Player of the Week.

Kline had a career-high 25 points on 12 of 16 shooting from the field Saturday afternoon in the Hornets 90-78 loss to No. 25 Virginia Wesleyan. This is the second time in his career that Kline has earned a weekly USA South accolade - he was a Rookie of the Week during his freshman year in 2007-08.

This week's honor is the fourth PoW honor of Hargbol's career and the second this season. In two games last week, Hargbol averaged 19.5 points and 11.0 rebounds as the Hornets won the Elizabethtown Tournament with wins over Wilkes and the host Blue Jays.

Hargbol also surpassed a personal milestone in the Friday win over Wilkes when she scored her 1000th career point. She is the 15th woman in school history to score at least 1000 points.

The SU men are back in action Monday night against Stevenson and the women Saturday versus Eastern Mennonite.
