HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University golf team fired a season-best 311 Sunday afternoon in the opening round of the Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament hosted by Bridgewater College at Lakeview Golf Course.

The gap between fourth place Hampden-Sydney and Shenandoah is just 10 shots.

Washington and Lee currently leads the tournament at 285.

Freshman Cory Hammonds is in a six-way tie for sixth after shooting a one-under-par 71. Hammonds had a 38 on his first nine before coming back with a 33 on the back.

Ryan Parker had a 79, Zach Ramey 80 and John Judy 81 to round out the Hornets four qualifying scores.
