Wiegand Third at Virginia State

NELLYSFORD, Va. - Led by junior Josh Wiegand's third-place showing, Shenandoah University concluded its 2009 fall golf season Monday afternoon with a 10th place finish at the Virginia State Division III Championships.

For the second straight day, Wiegand shot a two-over-par 74 on the par-72, 6790-yard Wintergreen Resort course. Just three men had better scores on the cold, windy morning final round, allowing Wiegand to pass two golfers and move into sole possession of third place.

Shenandoah's 337 on day two slipped the Hornets one spot to 10th in the 12-team field.  Randolph-Macon won the annual tourney by four strokes over Washington & Lee and Christopher Newport with a collective 615.

SU was one shot ahead of 11th place Ferrum.

In addition to Wiegand's 148, Aaron DeHaven shot 85-76--161 to finish tied for 29th.

This concludes the fall season.
