Golf Second After Day One
WINCHESTER, Va. - Aided by the individual medalist, Shenandoah University is second after day one of its two-day invitational at Winchester Country Club.
Junior Josh Wiegand fired a two-under-par 69 over the par-71, 6324-yard Winchester Country Club course to help the host Hornets to a collective 311 on day one of its two-day tourney.
Fellow USA South Conference member N.C. Wesleyan leads the tournament with a 294 - the Bishops had two 73s, two 74s and a 76 to give themselves five of the top seven players after day one of the two-day, 36-hole event.
Shenandoah's 311 is seven strokes in front of third place Marymount while Ferrum shot 326 and Apprentice 352 to round out the five-team field.
Sophomore Derek Snarr backed up Wiegand with a seven-over-par 78.
The tournament concludes Monday; the teams have a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
