Golf Second at Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. - Host Shenandoah University maintained its second place standing Monday afternoon in the final round of the 2009 SU Invitational.
After shooting 312 on day one at the par-72, 6324-yard Winchester CC course, SU carded a 335 on day two to finish by second by one stroke with a 647 total.
Fellow USA South member N.C. Wesleyan, the No. 9 team in the nation, won the tournament with a 294-307--601. Marymount came in that one shot behind Shenandoah with Ferrum and Apprentice rounding out the field.
NCWC had five of the top six golfers in the five-team, 24-man field.
Kristoffer Idestal won it for the Bishops with two-over-par 142. He defeated Shenandoah's Josh Wiegand by one stroke.
Wiegand, who had a tournament low three-under 69 on Sunday, posted 78 Monday afternoon.
SU completes its fall season this coming Sunday and Monday at the Virginia State Division III Championships.
