Golf Seventh at USA South

MEBANE, N.C. - Shenandoah University stands seventh after day one of the three day USA South Conference Golf Championships after shooting a 385 Friday afternoon at Mill Creek Golf Club.

Shenandoah stands 53 strokes behind sixth-place Ferrum after day one of the 54-hole event held at the par-72, 7004-yard Mill Creek Golf Course.

Methodist, the nation's No. 1 team, leads the tournament with a collective one-over-par 289. Three of the Monarchs four scoring golfers are tied for first with even-par 72's while the No. 4 player is one shot back.

Greensboro, the only team to defeat MU this season, is second with a 298 total.

Junior Josh Wiegand leads SU with a nine-over-par 81 that is good for a tie for 23rd overall.

The tournament continues Saturday afternoon.
