Golf 11th at Fall Opener

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University fired a 320 on day two of the Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament Sunday afternoon to secure 11th place in the team's 2008 fall season opener.

After finding themselves tied with Ferrum College after day one of the 36-hole event, the Hornets improved by 13 strokes over par-72, 6517-yard Lakeview Country Club course.

Shenandoah had the eighth-best final round, allowing coach Scott Singhass' club to claim 11th by seven shots of fellow USA South Conference member Ferrum.

Stevenson, which shot 331 Sunday, finished three strokes in front of SU with a 650 total.

Host Bridgewater won the annual event with a 292-294--586.

Sophomore Josh Wiegand was the Hornets medalist with a 79-79--158. He tied for 29th place.

SU is back in action next weekend at the Greensboro College Invitational.
