Hockey Names Captains

WINCHESTER, Va. - Head Women's Field Hockey Coach Kim Iman-Bianchi announced Monday that she has selected three captains for the 2011 season.

Seniors Megan Garrett, Maggie Hashemzadeh and Tricia Swider have been named by Iman-Bianchi to lead the squad in its first ODAC campaign this fall.

All three women are four-year players for the Hornets.

Garrett is the second-leading returning scorer for SU with three goals and two assists for eight points last season while Hashemzadeh and Swider combined to start 17 games in 2010.

"These three women have done a great job so far in leading the team through pre-season camp," Iman-Bianchi said. "They have really assisted Stephanie (Bair, assistant coach) and me with our concepts. I look forward to working with them with this fall."

Four of the squad's school-record eight wins last season came against ODAC opponents.

The Hornets open the season at home on Thursday versus Wilson. The match begins at 4 p.m.
