Hockey Picked Eighth

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team is the preseason No. 8 selection of the MAC Commonwealth coaches in a poll released Thursday morning by the league.

The Hornets, who finished 7-10 overall and 1-6 in the Commonwealth last season, had nine points in the poll to come in two points behind seventh-place selection Arcadia.

Shenandoah's lone league victory last season, its first-ever MAC win, came in a 4-1 home victory over Arcadia on October 3.

Coach Lois Bowers has 17 players returning from last year's record-setting squad, including senior Paola Aguilar. Aguilar was the team's leading scorer in 2009.
