Hood Downs Hockey in Finale
WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Hood College sent the Shenandoah
University field hockey team down to defeat in the Hornets season
finale Monday afternoon.
Despite giving up the game's initial goal, the Blazers (2-11) were
able to roar back for the 4-1 victory over SU (0-15).
Sophomore Jocelyn Whitt scored that initial goal of the game
for the hosts - she drove home a deflected shot from Paola
Aguilar just 1:54 into the contest.
Unfortunately for the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium crowd, this
would be the high-water mark for the hosts.
Hood answered with a Jessica Head goal at 9:58 and preceded to
score three more goals in the next 17:07 of game time to ice the
contest. Brandy Noel had what proved to be the game-winner with her
goal at 17:41 while Samantha Liptrap scored twice within a
65-second span.
The Hornets outshot the Blazers 8-5 and held a 13-7 advantage in
penalty corners.
