DALLAS, Texas - Senior defensive tackle Nick Erdman has been a named a semi-finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy in selections announced recently the National Football Foundation.
Erdman, a four-year starter for the Hornets along the defensive line, is one of 147 players nationally and one of 41 in Division III up for the Campbell Trophy.
The Campbell Trophy is given to the top football scholar-athlete in the nation.
Erdman earned a 3.73 GPA on a 4.0 scale in his three years of undergraduate work at SU, was a two-time Academic All-State selection and earned Capital One Academic All-District honors the past two years.
Having received his undergraduate degree last spring, Erdman is in his first year as a Doctoral Candidate in the SU School of Physical Therapy this fall.
Erdman is also a semi-finalist for one of up to 16 post-graduate scholarships given out by the NFF.
The Campbell Trophy finalists, and the scholarship recipients, will be announced October 25.
