WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Football Coach Paul Barnes announced his 2012 schedule Tuesday morning.
SU has also never faced Washington & Lee, the regular season finale opponent on November 10, in an official game but has scrimmaged the Generals for the past four seasons.
Shenandoah will open the 2012 season on September 1 in a 7:00 game at Stevenson. The second-ever matchup with the Mustangs is one of at least four night games on the '12 slate.
The final scheduled night game, on October 12 at Catholic, is the first Friday game in school history.
Guilford, on October 6, will be the Homecoming contest and also the first ODAC home game in program history.
SU plays its first ODAC game two weeks prior at Bridgewater.
Following the Catholic contest, Shenandoah hosts Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon to close out the month of October.
Barnes' club completes the regular season with ODAC road contests at Emory & Henry and Washington & Lee.
"This is going to be a new experience for all of us, obviously, but one we have been looking forward to for a long time," Barnes said.
"I am very happy that we are able to continue playing both Ferrum and CNU. We have had great games with them in the past and I look forward to continuing those series.
"At the same time, it is very exciting to be starting ODAC play. It is a great football league and we are looking forward to the challenge of competing with these teams."
