WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will hold a pair in-game promotions surrounding home football games the next two Saturdays.
This Saturday, for the second straight year, 3rdDimensonProductions will have two skydivers bring in the game ball, Old Glory (the Stars and Stripes) and the Shenandoah flag prior to the start of the contest.
Saturday's game is sponsored by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema of Winchester and if the skydivers hit the 'S' and the 'U' in the midfield logo on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium, fans will receive coupons for free popcorn and softdrinks for their next trip to the Drafthouse.
Next weekend, the World Champion Frisbee Dogs will visit Shentel for three performances. On Saturday night, the dogs will perform at halftime of the football game versus Bridgewater.
On Sunday, as part of the men's soccer game against Washington (Md.) College, the dogs will perform at halftime as well as in a 45-minute post-game performance.
"The skydivers return for their second descent into Shentel Stadium, and promise to hit the turf, standing up, precisely on target!!," said Athletics Director Wayne Edwards. "This is an awesome beginning to our home football season and fans always respond enthusiastically to this spectacular promotion.
"Shenandoah football and soccer fans are in for tremendous shows by the 'World Champion Frisbee Dogs' next week. These beautiful animals have performed at NBA, NFL and MLB games, and are truly amazing to watch. Those in attendance will be talking about this promotion for months to come!"
