WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday its first-ever Football FanFest for this coming Saturday, August 20.
The FanFest, held in conjunction with the 12th annual Football Media Day, is free and open to Hornet football fans of all ages.
Held from 10:30-11:30 a.m., fans will have access to the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf to interact with the players and coaches, obtain autographs and witness media day activities from a front-row seat.
Additionally, all fans aged 15 and under attending the on-field portion of the FanFest will receive a general admission ticket good for any game during the 2011 season.
"We think this is a great way to introduce our team to the public," head coach Paul Barnes said.
"We are very excited for this season, and want our fans to be able to meet our players in an informal setting. Media Day is perfect for this - the guys will have plenty of time to play catch, sign an autograph or just speak to our fans.
"I hope that everyone can come out for this and we hope to make this an annual event."
Fans attending the FanFest should park in the paved lot adjacent to the Perry-Werner End Zone Building and enter the field through the gate next to the building.
The department will provide a promotional flyer, made from card-stock paper, on which the players will sign autographs. Fans may also provide their own personal items for autographs.
Shenandoah opens the 2011 season on September 3 versus Stevenson. Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
