Kingsbury Earns ESPN Honor
DELAWARE, Ohio - Sophomore defensive back Matt
Kingsbury has been named first team ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District III in selections announced Wednesday by the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kingsbury has played in all eight games this season with six starts
and has 27 tackles (13 solo) along with one interception and three
passes defensed.
A 3.69 student as a Kinesiology major, Kingsbury now moves on to
the national ballot for consideration as an Academic
All-American.
To be eligible for ESPN honors, players must possess at least a 3.3
GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve on their
teams. Nominees are voted on by CoSIDA members within one of eight
national districts and the first team All-District members make up
the national ballot.
Kingsbury is the second SU student-athlete to earn All-District
honors this fall. Senior women's soccer player Renee
Summerson was named last week and is currently under
consideration for Academic All-America.
