Lunsford Earns USA South Honor

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Linebacker Joe Lunsford has been named USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week in selections announced Monday by the conference office.

Lunsford led the SU defense in the Hornets 30-22 season ending victory over Methodist University Saturday afternoon with a co-game-high 12 tackles.

He had nine solo stops, two tackles for loss and had a red-zone interception that eventually led to a field goal.

Lunsford finished the year with a team-highs in tackles, 75, and solo tackles, 39. His three interceptions was second-best.

This is his first conference honor and the fourth for the team this season.
