NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Shenandoah University had three baseball players named to the Newport News Regional All-Tournament team in selections announced Saturday afternoon by tournament host Christopher Newport University.
Pendergraft was named as an outfielder, Nelson at pitcher and Beall as the designated hitter.
Shenandoah made it to the final day of the regional for the fourth straight year before falling 9-5 to eventual champion Christopher Newport. The Captains beat Salisbury 12-3 in the championship contest.
Pendergraft was virtually unstoppable in the four games, hitting an even .600 with six RBI and 12 hits in 20 at-bats for coach Kevin Anderson.
In the finale versus CNU, Pendergraft was 3 for 5 with three RBI.
Beall was also strong - he hit .412 with seven hits and five RBI in 17 at-bats. In the regional opener, a 5-4 win over Rowan (N.J.), Beall drove in a pair of runs.
Nelson tossed a seven-hitter in Thursday's 6-1 victory over Salisbury while striking out four and walking just two.
This is the fourth time in his career that he has earned All-Regional honors. He was named in 2009 at Salisbury, 2010 at Fayetteville and last year in Millington.
