Baseball Up One

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Shenandoah University baseball team improved by one spot in the week six NCBWA/D3baseball.com Top 25 poll released late Monday night by the website.

Shenandoah, 20-7 on the year after defeating both Catholic and Elizabethtown last week in non-league contests, has 179 points in the week six poll to come in at No. 18 in the nation.

The Hornets are in between Cortland (N.Y.) State and Linfield (Ore.) in the poll.

Trinity (Texas) is the nation's No. 1 team with Marietta (Ohio) ranked second.

Christopher Newport, ranked No. 3 again this week, visits Winchester at the end of this week for a pair of USA South Conference contests.

SU and the Captains are separated by one game in the league standings, so this final league series of the regular season (and final one in Shenandoah history) will determine the 2012 USA South Conference regular season champion.

The Hornets host future ODAC foe Hampden-Sydney on Thursday at 6:30 in a non-league contest.
