Baseball Moves Up A Spot
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Shenandoah University improved its ranking by one position in the week 12 D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 baseball poll released Tuesday morning by D3baseball.com.
Shenandoah, 34-8 and headed to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Regional as the No. 1 seed, is the nation's No. 9 team this week.
This is the highest that the Hornets have been ranked in the 12 weeks of regular season polls. SU was the pre-season No. 9 team in the nation after winning the South Region title last year.
Shenandoah has 384 points in this week's poll to find itself 24 points ahead of No. 10 Ponoma-Pitzer (Calif.).
Johns Hopkins (Md.) remains the No. 1 team in the country. The Blue Jays received 615 points and 20 of a possible 25 first-place votes.
NCAA Regional play begins on Wednesday; SU faces sixth-seeded Bridgewater in the Fayetteville Regional's opening game at 11 a.m. All Fayetteville Regional contests will be played at Armstrong-Shelly Field on the Methodist University campus.
