Baseball Remains in Top 10

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Shenandoah University baseball team remains in the nation's top 10 in rankings released Tuesday morning by D3baseball.com.

The Hornets, who lead the nation with 33 wins and have already qualified for the NCAA Tournament with a USA South Conference championship, have 428 points in the week eight NCBWA/D3baseball.com poll to tie with St. Scholastica (Minn.) for the No. 9 spot.

Due to tiebreaking criteria, SU is ranked 10th. The Hornets were ninth last week.

Shenandoah went 5-1 last week, defeating Eastern Mennonite in a non-league game before taking out Averett, Methodist and Christopher Newport twice to win the USA South title.

Johns Hopkins (Md.) ascends to the top spot in the poll with an even 600 points. The Blue Jays have 11 first-place votes while UW-Whitewater and its 10 first-place votes come in at No. 2.

St. Thomas (Minn.), who has been No. 1 all season long, falls to third after losing twice last week.

SU has non-league games this week against Dickinson on Wednesday and Stevenson Thursday. Both games start at 6:00.
