Brashears Earns National Honor

NEWBERG, Ore. - Junior Kevin Brashears has been named as a honorable mention National Baseball Player of the Week in selections announced Thursday by the NCBWA.

Brashears, the Hornets centerfielder, hit .542 with five home runs and nine RBI last week as SU defeated Catholic, Elizabethtown, Eastern Mennonite and Ferrum twice.

On Monday, he was named as the league's Player of the Week and yesterday he added first team All-USA South honors to a resume that includes All-Tournament honors at the 2009 USA South and Salisbury Regional Tournaments and a 2009 Salisbury Regional Most Outstanding Player award.

Shenandoah, ranked ninth and 14th in the two national polls, continues USA South Tournament play Friday morning at 10:00 against second-seeded Methodist.
