Baseball Tabbed in South Region
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Shenandoah University has been tabbed as one of two favorites in the South Region race in a preview published Thursday by D3baseball.com.
Shenandoah, who has been previously announced as a top 10 team in both the Collegiate Baseball and D3baseball.com pre-season polls, has been named as a co-favorite along with Salisbury University to win the 2010 South Region title.
Last season, SU swept through the regional hosted by Salisbury University to earn its first-ever trip to Appleton, Wis. and the NCAA Division III national championships.
The Hornets return key starters at all four infield spots, centerfield and their No. 1 starter on the mound.
That pitcher, Greg Van Sickler, was named as a pre-season first team All-American by D3baseball.com two weeks ago.
Shenandoah opens up its 2010 season on February 13 with two games as part of the ODAC-USA South Challenge.
