Tremendous athlete... fastest player in the Hornets program...moved to outfield full-time in 2009 after splitting time between OF and catcher in 2008...brother, Chad, is a former SU men's basketball player... father, Mike, played baseball at the University of Maryland... In the Valley League: spent the summer of 2009 as an outfielder for the Front Royal Cardinals in the Valley League... helped the team to a league-best 29 wins in the regular season... had 19 hits and 10 RBI as he made 19 starts and played in 39 games... As a junior: helped the Hornets to a USA South Conference sweep over Ferrum in the final series of the regular season by hitting four home runs in the two games... tied a school record with three dingers in the Sunday victory... hit .562 for the week and had five HR and nine RBI... was later named USA South Conference Player of the Week for his efforts and as an honorable mention National Player of the Week by the NCBWA...  named first team All-USA South... was named as the USA South Tournament MVP after hitting .476 in five games... had a co-tournament-high 10 hits, hit three HR and had a 1.000 slugging percentage... also made a couple of outstanding catches in the outfield...  grabbed a second NCBWA National Player of the Week honorable mention honor in as many weeks after leading the Hornets to that USA South Conference Championship... hit over .500 for the week with three HR... named ESPN The Magazine second team Academic All-District III by CoSIDA... named first team All-South Region by the ABCA... also grabbed a spot on the Gold Glove team... named first team All-America by both D3baseball.com and the ABCA... As a sophomore: named USA South Conference Player of the Week on February 23 after getting seven hits in 10 at-bats as the Hornets downed Maine Presque Isle, Elizabethtown and Mount Aloysius... hit home runs in the latter two contests... earned USA South All-Tournament honors... was named Most Outstanding Player of the Salisbury Regional after hitting over .500 and leading the team with two HR and 10 RBI... earned third team All-South Region honors from the ABCA... was also named VaSID All-State... As a freshman: hit .307 with 20 starts in 27 games... stole eight bases in nine attempts... In high school: played for his father Mike Brashears at St. Maria Goretti High School...selected First Team All-Area in 2005 and 2006...named First Team All-County in 2004, 2005, 2006...named First Team All-Apple Valley in 2004, 2005, 2006...2006 Pre-Season All-State selection...named BCA District 2 Team and BCA Second Team All-American in 2005...played in the Brooks Robinson All-Star Game in Camden Yards in 2006...
