Van Sickler Named All-Tournament

GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. - Sophomore Greg Van Sickler put a cap on his outstanding season by being named to the Division III Baseball Championships All-Tournament team Tuesday afternoon.

Announced immediately following St. Thomas (Minn.) championship game victory over Wooster (Ohio), Van Sickler was just one of two players not in the championship game named to the 11-man All-Tournament squad.

In three games, Van Sickler hit .667 at the plate with eight hits in 12 at-bats, had two doubles and drove in six runs. On the mound, he pitched Shenandoah to its only win of the tournament by tossing a seven-hit complete game in the opener against Farmingdale (N.Y.) State.

Van Sickler, who was named an ABCA All-America on the eve of the Championships, led the eight-team tournament in batting average and was second in doubles, RBI and walks.

Complete Team

Van Sickler is expected to play his summer baseball with the Front Royal (Va.) Cardinals in the Shenandoah Valley League.
