Lambert Earns Academic Honor
DELAWARE, Ohio - Senior baseball player Scott Lambert has earned ESPN The Magazine first team Academic All-District III honors in voting totals announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Lambert, who has started all 41 games for the 33-8 Hornets, now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
To be eligible for Academic All-District or All-America, student-athletes must be starters or important reserves on their team and have at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Nominees are then voted on by CoSIDA members within one of eight national districts. The first team district honorees then move on to the national ballot, from which CoSIDA Academic All-America committee members select first, second and third team Academic All-America teams.
Lambert currently leads SU with a .420 batting average and four triples and was named honorable mention All-USA South last month. Last week, he was named as the department's male student-athlete of the year at the Senior Awards Dinner.
The Chantilly, Virginia native has a 3.45 GPA as a Kinesiology major and has been named USA South All-Academic three times in his career.
Lambert and his teammates are currently waiting word on a Pool C berth into the 54-team NCAA playoff field. The bids are announced Sunday night.
