Ferrum Rallies Past Baseball

FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College scored a pair of eighth-inning runs Sunday afternoon on its way to a 6-4 USA South Conference baseball victory over Shenandoah.

The Panthers (11-11, 3-5 USA South) took the early lead with three runs in the first only to see SU (24-5, 4-4) score one run in the second and three more in the third.

The Hornets carried that lead into the seventh, where FC finally chased Shenandoah starter Josh Simons by putting runners on the corners with two outs.

SU skipper Kevin Anderson turned to reliever Bryce Sears, who loaded the bases with by hitting centerfielder Travis Crump.

Anderson then brought in closer Gage Levac (1-3), who induced a groundball to second that allowed Crump to score on.

In the eighth, Jesse Fuller ended up scoring the game-winning run by leading off with a double to right and coming up on a Jason Butterworth single.

Juniors Jesse Henry and Scott Van Dusseldorp both two hits for the visitors with Henry hitting his second home run in as many days.

Shenandoah hosts St. Joseph's (L.I.) on Wednesday night at 6:00 in a non-league contest.
