INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Shenandoah University baseball team remains third in the South Region rankings in a release announced Thursday by the NCAA.
Shenandoah, which defeated South Region opponents Stevenson and Wesley last week, is third of five teams in the South Region ranking.
Salisbury and Millsaps flip places this week with the Sea Gulls taking the top spot and the Majors falling to No. 2 after losing two games in the SCAC Tournament.
Fellow USA South members Christopher Newport and N.C. Wesleyan round out the rankings at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
The rankings are used to help determine the 54-team NCAA Tournament field. After 34 automatic bids (Pool A) and six Pool B bids (independents and leagues without an automatic qualifer) are awarded, the remaining 14 spots (Pool C) will be filled from schools not qualifying in Pools A and B.
The rankings help order the schools for these Pool C bids.
The playoff field will be selected next Sunday night.
