Baseball Improves to No. 17
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Fresh off its selection into the 2009 NCAA Baseball Championships, the Shenandoah University baseball team has moved to a program best-ever No. 17 national ranking in the week 12 poll announced Tuesday morning by the NCBWA and D3baseball.com.
The Hornets, 33-8 overall and 28-6 in the South Region, have 211 points in this week's poll to move up one spot after sitting at No. 18 for the past two weeks.
This is the eighth straight week that SU has been ranked in the poll and the second time that the team has been ranked 17th.
Shenandoah is 24 points behind George Fox (Ore.) and 22 in front of St. Thomas (Minn.).
The Hornets are the No. 2 seed at this week's Salisbury (Md.) Regional and face seventh-seeded Johns Hopkins at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening in the final game of day one of the five-day regional.
