Baseball Finishes Sixth in Nation

MUHLENBERG, Pa. - The Shenandoah University baseball team, fresh off its first appearance in the NCAA Baseball Championships, finished its most successful season in school history with a No. 6 ranking in the final American Baseball Coaches Association poll.

The Hornets have 190 points in the final poll of the season to finish five points ahead of Trinity (Conn.) and seven back of Kean (N.J.). Trinity and Kean won the 2008 and 2007 national championships, respectively.

St. Thomas (Minn.), which dealt SU its first loss of the championships on its way to the national title, is the No. 1 team in the poll while Carthage (Wisc.) finished third. CC eliminated Shenandoah from the tournament with a 9-8, 11-inning victory on May 24.

The No. 6 national ranking is the highest finish ever for any SU athletic team.
