Hornets Crack Top 10
MUHLENBERG, Pa. - The Shenandoah University baseball team achieved a program all-time high national ranking of No. 6 in a poll released Tuesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The Hornets, fresh off of their South Region championship, vaulted 21 places to sixth in the nation. SU is three points behind fellow NCAA Championship participant St. Thomas (Minn.) and six in front of Eastern Connecticut State.
All five teams ahead of Shenandoah have made the eight-team NCAA Championship field.
The championship tournament begins on Friday and SU takes on No. 12 Farmingdale (N.Y.) State at 5:30 EDT in first round play. A Hornets win puts the team into an 8:45 p.m. game on Saturday against the winner of the Chapman (Calif.) vs Trinity (Conn.) contest. The two losers of those first round games will play an elimination contest at 1:15 Saturday.
The game will be broadcast on The River 95.3 FM in the Winchester market and will be streamed on the web here.
