WINCHESTER, Va. – The women's tennis program once again had the athletic department's highest GPA in team grades announced Monday.

A department-record 19 intercollegiate athletics programs had at least a 3.0 average GPA with all 11 women's programs at 3.36 or above.

The 10-woman tennis team leads this group with a 3.57 overall GPA and eight of the 10 student-athletes on the squad earned at least a 3.53 GPA. Sophomore Morgan Fuqua and junior Elizabeth Pardo both posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Pardo is a dual sport athlete that was named ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for field hockey this past fall.

The men's golf team, at 3.37, led the 10 men's intercollegiate athletics programs. Eight of the 10 men's squads had at least a 3.07 average GPA.

Tennis was one of eight women's teams that posted an average GPA of least 3.5 – basketball followed tennis at 3.54, softball at 3.53 and both indoor and outdoor track & field had a 3.52.

Cross country, field hockey and lacrosse round out this group at 3.46, 3.46 and 3.45, respectively.

Overall, the women had a 3.47 GPA and the men a 3.10.

This is the second straight semester that women's tennis had the department's highest team GPA.

Individual academic honors for student-athletes will be announced later this week.
