School Record Earn Academic Honors
FAYTETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University had a school-record 92 student-athletes earn All-USA South Academic honors in selections announced Friday by the conference office.
To be eligible for the USA South All-Academic team, student-athletes must earn at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in both semesters of the academic year.
In 2008-09, Shenandoah University had 92 men and women achieve this feat, surpassing by six the previous high of 86 set in 2006-07.
All 20 sports were represented on the team and three women: Catherine Beuerle (softball), Katie Haskins (softball) and Renee Summerson (soccer) went on to earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors this year.
SU has now had eight men and women named Academic All-America in the past three years.
