SUAA Membership Drive Opens

Dear Fans:

On behalf of the student-athletes, coaches and staff of Shenandoah Athletics, I would like to thank all of our Shenandoah University Athletic Association (SUAA) contributors for their past support and commitment to our program. The 2008-09 athletic year provided many exciting and memorable moments.

Our teams continue to demonstrate success both academically and athletically. In the past five years, we have won conference championships in football, softball, and women's lacrosse. In addition,  the baseball team won the school's first-ever NCAA South Region title this past spring and made an appearance in the Division III World Series. They completed the year ranked No. 6 in the country. The team also earned a record numbers of student-athletes earning All-League, All-Region and All-America honors.

Off the field during this past year, softball players Catherine Beuerle and Katie Haskins as well as soccer player Renee Summerson were named first team ESPN Academic All-America. Equally as impressive was our women's cross country team that finished the year with the highest team GPA in the nation.

As a new athletic season is about to begin I would sincerely like to ask you to be a part of our intercollegiate athletics program. Our NCAA Division III student-athletes do not receive any form of athletic scholarships; they are true students who play for the love of the sport. The mission of the SUAA is to enable these students to have a positive experience and excel both in the classroom and on the playing fields.

We are challenged in these tough economic times to do all that we can to increase support over recent years and supplement any potential budget deficits that may affect our student-athletes. The impact that your donation can have on our bottom-line is tremendous. To be successful we need your help, in not only maintaining last year's support, but securing new dollars for all of our programs. Consider increasing your contribution during the 2009-10 membership drive and tell your friends, family members, co-workers and fellow alumni about the great benefits of being a Shenandoah University Athletic Association Member.

I urge you to take a moment and make a contribution to secure your 2009-10 membership. Every donation will help us continue to move our programs forward. Share your enthusiasm about Shenandoah Athletics by becoming a member of the SUAA.

Go Hornets!

Yours Truly,

Kimberly Scruton

Interim Co-Director of Athletics
