Six to be Inducted into ODK
WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Thursday that six of its student-athletes are set to be inducted into national honor society Omicron Delta Kappa.
Softball player Ashley Plaugher, track & field athletes Brandi Sobanko and Kelley Mitchell, football player Matt Kingsbury and men's basketball players Kevin Kline and Kevin Cornell are all set to be inducted in a ceremony February 21 in Goodson Chapel.
The six student-athletes, fully half of which have been nominated for Academic All-District honors in the past two years, are part of a class of 15 students being inducted into ODK.
Four of the six: Kline, Plaugher, Sobanko and Mitchell, have also earned All-league honors during their careers.
Twenty-one students have been inducted into Shenandoah's ODK chapter in the past two years.
All six were nominated by either a faculty or staff member and after completing a one-page essay on leadership, were selected for induction by the ODK selection committee.
