Buzz for Cancer Announced

WINCHESTER, Va. - Head Women's Basketball Coach Michelle Guyant-Holloway announced Thursday that her program will once again hold its third annual "Buzz for Cancer" fundraiser.

For the past two years, Guyant-Holloway and her basketball team have held this event, a 5K run/walk, to benefit the Winchester Medical Center and its Wellspring Center.

All proceeds from the October 10, 9 a.m. event go to the Wellspring Center, an outfit which supports cancer patients/survivors and their families.

"I have been very happy to support local community organizations since I came to SU," Guyant-Holloway said. "Breast Cancer is an issue that is very close to my heart - I lost my mother to the disease and some of my players have family members who are fighting it right now.

The Wellspring Center will have a display table at the event "This fundraiser is a small thing we can do to help overcome a big problem."

Entry fee is once again $15.00 and SU faculty/staff and student receive a $5.00 discount. The start and finish of the certified course is the main gate of Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.

You can sign up by downloading a PDF flyer or going to this site.
